Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

A SACRED OATH
A FALLEN ANGEL
A FORBIDDEN LOVE

Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Disliking a book everybody loves.

Man, I wanted to love Hush Hush! Just look at that cover and premise, it sounded AMAZING. And yet… I couldn’t get into it, not the characters, the mystery, the love story or plot. Nothing moved me or interest me in any way as I felt that I had read the same book a thousand times before in countless other YA stories:

-MC with absent parents.
-Meets hot guy who is an asshole (and my God Patch was awful!)
-Hot guy baits her, but is really mysterious and dangerous.
-Enter some half cooked love triangle.
-Mystery, drama! For five seconds before hot, mysterious guy enters the game again.
-“I love you, even though I just met you.” Angst.
-“I love you, even though I humiliate you, abuse you mental and physically and put you at risk in more than one occasion!” Angst.

All charged up with slut-shaming, girl-on-girl hate and sexism.

Yeah… I don’t know why I disliked it.

I'll write a more indepth investigation in The YA Investigation.
