Before she entered the Selection . . .
She was in love with a boy named Aspen Leger.

“I’ve seen a lot
of people let the bad around them make them hard or stubborn. In the end, they
miss the chance to make their world better because they only see the worst in
it.”
I enjoyed The
Guard much more than The Prince, strange since I’m not the biggest fan of Aspen
either, but I guess it was fun to see a bit more on the Elite and the whole “rebels
attacking” thing.
Truthfully, this
series is just sugar-coated and silly entertainment. There might not be amazing
plot lines, believable characters/romance or, well… common sense but it’s
simple and a fast read. These novellas are the same.
With The Guard
it was interesting seeing Aspen’s point of view which tended to be forgotten a
bit in the series, and there was an introduction to a possible love interest
with Lucy? Maybe?
Overall, this
novel was goofy fun and I recommend it to those who like the Selection and/or
Aspen!
